Subject: KR> N886MJ Flies Again

I finished the installation of my engine on January 1st after removing it
from the plane and installing a new distributor, oil pump and rear case. The
engine ran flawlessly on Jan 1st when I did the static test runs. The
weather here was perfect all week for flying but unfortunately, I had to
work and could not get to the airport. Today I rose from the sleeping world
at 6am and was at the airport at 7am. The temp was at 33° and the wind was
at 10mph straight down runway 28 but the soup was at 800 feet. Way off on
the horizon I could see a break in the clouds so about 7:30am I started
N886MJ up and prepared for that first test flight. Right at 8am the break in
the soup reached the airport and I taxied out to runway 28. I called the
tower and asked for clearance to do some pattern work and was cleared for
takeoff. I could see in the distance that the soup would be back in soon so
I wasted no time and slowly firewalled the throttle. The engine smoothly
reached full throttle and as I said a little prayer to the man above, N886MJ
wheels left the bonds of Earth. Rapidly she climbed in the cold air to 1000"
agl as I was turning downwind. The engine was smooth a glass and gave me no
surprises. I prepared for final to 28 and made a fairly decent landing. I
full stopped, taxied to the ramp, shut her down and checked for oil leaks.
Not a drop anywhere so back out I went and did more pattern work. To make a
long story short, I was able to get 7/10ths of an hour of flight in before
the soup socked us in again. The engine performed flawlessly and I once
again am a happy camper. Life is sweet !!!!!!!!!!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !
