Netters, 70 degrees on Friday and I had my shorts on and the day off. You guessed it 4 hours of good flying. Photo link below. Thursday I was out to the airport with my Dad trying to figure out my lack of charging of the battery. I'm not getting a charge from the generator. I have been putting if off for awhile now. I have both mag and elec ign. I can fly for about 5 hours without recharging the batt. After calling Steve Bennett, we came to the conclusion that I will have to pull the motor and replace the stator and magnets. sad....... well until it shows up I can still fly. I have been running a little rich, so I gave it 1 turn in and put it back together. I took off Friday about noon and headed for the dunes of CA. I had a GPS with me and @ 6500 i was getting 120mph. All temps looking great. I climbed to 8500 and I went down to 110 mph. So back to 6500. Fuel usage was 3.6 total for the trip over and the fooling around the dunes. I gased up and headed home. This time I was @7500 feet and getting 140 mph average. That is an average of 130 +/- mph about 10 to 15 faster than I thought I was getting. On the return flight I plugged in the new I-POD and rocked out. Brian K's idea of ear buds under the headset. I need a good way to plug in my i-pod to the headset, or get a lightspeed headset with the adaptor. It would be nice to make a call from the air and be able to listen to music. Cheap Ideas appreciated. I came back a little north of my normal route. I flew over the Nascar track. it seemed so cold and empty. Have a GREAT 2006 all.
