The KR2S plans show the same max width as the KR2.  I'll never understand
why, because this is the one dimension that was begging to be changed when
the plans were updated.  You and your wife are obviously thin people, or
that KR2 was already widened!  The plans show 38.125" to the outside, which
is 35.625" on the inside, assuming no upholstery.  This is at a point
measured  about a fourth of the way back from the main spar.  Most folks
would do well do make the widest point of the fuselage occur at the rear
spar so there's more shoulder room.  This improves aerodynamic effects as
well, reducing a low pressure area where the fuselage starts converging
again at the same place as the wing meets the fuselage.  Mine is about 2.5"
wider than the plans call for, and it happens at the rear spar, and I have
plenty of room in my plane.
