Some of the cheaper migs are for using flux core wire only. Spend a few more bucks and get one that can use gas shielding. My mig is probably 6 years old and I got it from Sears for about $300. I have talked to several professional welders who use migs for aluminum welding but I have never been able to weld aluminum with my cheap mig.
