Actually, I have my GPASC book right here and it says that on a 2180, 100 octane will support 9.6 to 1 and 94 octane ( where do you get that ), will support 7.5 to 1. Sometime in the future, after I get all this crap worked out and need some problems to chase, I plan to boost mine from 7.1 to the 9 6 and burn only avgas. My local VW expert says that lead is good for VW engines, and Avgas is certainly much easier to find at the airport, where I park my plane.
And for more on that, GPASC says that for maximum engine life, the max should be 8 to 1 on the 2180 and 8.5 to 1 on the 1835. Great Plains engines are 8:1 as are most others and Great plains says 95 octane. 10:1 ratios would surely require 100 octane.
