The RV type "spat" is split in half vertically just forward of the axle so the front half is removed forward. The rear half on the RV "spat" is removed to the rear with much less , if any, vertical movement than a normally mounted "spat". I would think any "spat" could be modified to mount and remove in the same manner if vertical space is limited. My "spats" have mounting holes only and all mounting screws / bolts attach to either the axle or mounting hardware with blind nuts attached. Larry Flesner
