The RV type "spat" is split in half vertically just forward of the axle
so the front half is removed forward. The rear half on the RV "spat"
is removed to the rear with much less , if any, vertical movement than a
normally mounted "spat". I would think any "spat" could be modified
to mount and remove in the same manner if vertical space is
limited. My "spats" have mounting holes only and all mounting
screws / bolts attach to either the axle or mounting hardware with
blind nuts attached.
