When I had mine outside I was saving about $250 a month over a hanger. I figured that if it lasted 10 years outside that I would have saved enough money to buy two more KRs with engines and radios.
I was also figuring that if the glass started to get bad that you could strip the glass off and reglass and paint it like new. I don't know how long that would take, but it seems to me like you could do it fairly quickly.
