When considering panel layout, set in the airplane and make motor noises for an hour or two. Consider each phase of flight and determine just how easy the switches and controls will be to operate. Will you have to continually switching hands on the stick, etc. I have dual sticks with my throttle on the left sidewall. When I built my second panel, even before my first flight, I located all switches and controls on the left side of the panel. http://www.krnet.org/mvn2004/040929271.jpg Once I release my starter Tee handle I never have to take my right hand off the stick for the duration of the flight, right up to engine shutdown. The only exceptions are the intercom, located in the rear, the circuit breakers, which haven't tripped in 250 hours, and the transponder, if I ever get it wired. You really don't want to be continually reaching across your body to operate switches and controls. Larry Flesner
