This seems to happen a month or two before the gathering every year. Maybe everyone just has their adrenalin pumping from looking forward to the greatest KR event in history coming up.
It is usually pretty peacefull for a long time after the gathering when everyone meets the other people from the list and realizes that we are all pretty good people in spite of a few differences in opinion. Those that have not been to a gathering before please don't let an occasional squabble on the list detur you from going. You will meet some of the best people you have ever met there and I am not aware of anyone ever not acting civilized at a gathering. Well, at least not uncivilized towards each other anyway. We do have more than our fair share of fun.
