My experience tells me to use a well proven product developed for the
application. While T88 may be a fine product and I'm sure that its cured
strength is much greater than the spruce that it is bonding, there are other
products. I started aircraft building in the late 70s. T88 was new and only
used by few builders, most KR wood kits ordered from Aircraft Spruce &
Specialties or Wics came with Aerolite 306 adhesive for wood bonding. Aerolite
is a urea-formaldehyde resin and has a cured shear strength of 25,000psi (aprox.
five times the strength of spruce) which is what my fuse and spars are bonded
with. I still use it today even though it is not as easy to get. The Falco
aircraft was built exclusively with Aerolite 306 even though some Falco builders
experimented with T88 and found aerolite to be superior. Aerolite was originally
developed for the deHavilland Mosquito bomber. Information on Aerolite cam be
