Back where I come from (got some strange) had it own unique meaning. I
hope your wife does not see this post unless she is the strange you
got!!! Also, just how low to that narrow river did you get. If you were
below the tree line then I am impressed.

Subject: KR> another quick flying story

NetHeads,

This afternoon I couldn't resist flying again. Actually I've flown twice

since my last report, but I'll spare you those two. I flew up to
Columbia
TN to see if Troy was home, but he wasn't, so I just did a 200 mph
flyby, a
touch and go, and then to Lewisburg for a couple more (got some strange)
and
then headed back home. On the way I flew over a place where an old
buddy
used to live. I remembered an old iron bridge that I got a real close
look
at when I was practicing engine out landings in my brother's C-172, and
wondered if I could find it. It's on the Elk River near Prospect
Tennessee,
in my buddy's back yard, practically. I found it, and then had this
flashback about the video of the ultralight doing the river thing that
there was such a debate about a few weeks ago. Then I saw a guy in a
boat,
doing the moral equivalent of what I was thinking of doing....blasting
down
the river having a good time. I couldn't resist doing the low level
thing
down a really twisty river, and then did one of those crop duster turns
and
back, and back again, and down the river, and back again, and you get
the
picture. He gave me a big wave each time.

I had to climb quite a bit to take the picture at
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/flights/06080347m.jpg , but it was
late,
shutterspeed was slow, and he would've been a blur otherwise. Funny
thing
is that I don't think I ever got over 3000' off the ground for almost 2
hours. On the way back I couldn't see the airport beacon until I was a
mile
out...because the trees obscured it!

Taxiing back to the hangar I ran it up to 2000 rpm or so to blow the
grass
off the taxiway where some kind soul had mowed it earlier in the day.
Life
is good...
