Instead of springs, I am using my rubber bends sling shot method. What I did
is drive 2 nails a few inches away but facing the gussets, string a 1/2 in wide
rubber bands (got them from Office Depot) on the 2 nails, and place a 5/8 in.
stick between the rubber band and the gussets. The tension created will push
the gusset tight against the verticals. Depending on how much tension you want
on the gussets, you can length of the sticks used.
The bag of about 40 rubber band cost me $1.12 and the sticks are scraps from
the verticals & longerons. Hope this helps.

  Hi All,
I'm about to start gluing the fuse sides together, and am planning on using
springs to hold all the little gusset blocks in place (as per a few of your
web pages).
Can anyone recommend what type of spring to use? What I really need to know
is how stiff does it need to be (and how 'stiff-ness' is measured)?

Thanks,
John.
