I should also mention that anybody building a Corvair engine for aircraft
use really MUST buy William Wynne's conversion manual.  It's only $59 and
keeps you from doing stupid things like buying the wrong engine or (I hate
to say it) unscrewing all your head studs.  You can order it from
www.flycorvair.com , http://www.flycorvair.com/manual.html to be exact.  Pat
Panzera built a gorgeous engine with many hours of modifications, CNC
machinework, and polishing, only to find out he built it from the short
stroke version, which is lower power and weak connecting rods.  That engine
never flew...
