Hi KRNetters!
I'm one of the new guys. Just started rebuilding a Corvair engine for my bird,
and was hoping the words of the wise would be available to enlighten the
inexperienced... or rather, me.

I have nearly the entire engine broken down and cleaned, however, my dilemma
lies with the cylinder head studs, having 4 out of the 6 per case half not
wanting to come out. Interestingly, I have noticed that in all cases, they are
studs which are not threaded through the case (like you could see the threading
from the inside of the case). I have tried every method I know to extract
these studs (with the hope of cleaning and painting them) from nut-jamming
them, to penetrating oil. Short of melting the aluminum case into which they
are imbedded, does anybody have any ideas?

Much abliged to all ideas - and to the winning idea, I owe a beer!

I will try very hard to locate the KR crowd at Oshkosh next week.

Again, my thanks!

Cedric Gould

Pictures to come of my progress.
