Coda,
What matters the most in an engine is having one that you understand and
feel at peace with. After all, when those wheels leave the ground, you and
your engine become one, so, you had better have one you can unite with.
Personally, I chose the Corvair and I have full confidence in mine. I have
had my share of problems, and have had two engine heart stoppers. The
Corvair is a huge value for the horsepower and performance you get, ease of
maintenance, low cost repair and operation, readily available repair parts,
etc..etc...etc. Build the engine by proven methods and you can quickly have
a nice engine ready to go. You can build a good reliable Corvair for $3000,
can you do that with a Continental or any other engine?
