So, with the Diehl wing, and a weight a little more than that, I get a wing
loading of 8.7 pounds/sq ft. Is that good or bad or neither?

Wing loading is the weight divided by the wing area. The answer comes out
to be pounds/sq-ft. As an example: 900Pounds / 78sq-ft yields a wing
loading of: 11.5 pounds/sq-ft.
