Wladimir: Perhaps some creative ways to place springs in the system to create a false load on the stick? This would of course add weight and complexity and there would also be a permanent load on the structure where ever the spring was anchored. Good or bad I am not sure but i would think it could be done in an easy to undo way and you should be able to test it with out leaving the ground..
