Well, I messd up, so here's what I did and didn't do, so maybe one of you won't make the same mistake. As I previously reported, my engine was running real good, so I decided to put on the baffle and get it ready to fly. When I got the baffle on, I tried to start it, and it would not. The solenoid just clicked. So I put the charger on it, and it just turned over, so, I determined from that, that the battery was dead. I have had it for way over 2 years and have run it hard with little charging, so I guess it was a logical conclusion. Well, I could not get another one locally and found a place only a day away, that sold Oddessy batteries. So, I got one. I installed it, and guess what. The same thing happened. So, I figured that I better charge it up. Same thing happened. Well, I started tracing what I could have possibly done between when it worked, and when it didn't and finally hit on it. I had taken off the ground cable, to temporarilly install the pan on the bottom of the engine, and when finished, just loosely put it back in place. So, I tightened it up and it worked just as before. Now I have two batteries and less money for gas.
The lesson here, is, don't do something half way. Either do it all the way, or don't do it. If you must do it partially, put a big flag on it, so you won't make a similar mistake that could cost a lot more than a battery. Oh, and it really makes you feel dumb, too.
