Let's hope you never have a flat tire or you will most likely be fixing more than a flat tire. I think I installed mine at or slightly above the bottom of the wheel. Even so, a rolling flat will most likely cause wheel pant damage as my side clearance is rather tight. At one point I seemed to be getting a lot of landing gear vibration at the higher speeds on T.O. and landing. I attributed it to gear misalignment but was questioning why or what had changed from earlier set up. I found one pant had shifted slightly and was rubbing on the tire sidewall. Correcting that problem got rid of the vibration and once again it is hard to detect the actual lift off or touch down. Well, o.k., not all my touch downs are all that smooth but our quest for that extra one or two miles per hour airspeed can cause other day to day problems. Didn't Jim Bede have a wheel cover that had a flap / cover that actually closed over the tire in flight on one of his models? Larry Flesner
