Hey there folks, I'm new to the krnet and I have a question pretaining to the
transponder antenna groundplane in my kr-2s. I have a Collins tdr-950
transponder and a KA-60 antenna that I'm installing. I'm mounting the antenna
outside, under the belly of the plane. I have read in the krnet search data
base that it is recommended to make a groundplane out of 1/16" aluminum with a
diameter of 5.5 inches. What I'm wondering is if I can use the same groundplane
as my elt antenna uses. A large portion of the fuselage floor was lined with
aluminum foil which was attached with a spray adhesive and this is what is used
as the groundplane for the elt. Would I be able to mount the transponder
antenna with the small attachment plate on the aluminum foil for the
transponder groundplane instead of using an extra piece of aluminum on top of
the auminum foil for the transponder antenna groundplane?
Thanks for the help!
