I came accross this on the mustang list. Some interresting ideas here. I have always used two part foam for making compound curves, but I need to try the screen method sometime. Sounds like it might be good for cowling mods. Colin?
> The way I make wing root fairings is to form aluminum door screen on the > aircraft to give the shape.It is best to wash the screen with lacquer thinners > to wash out the sizing .this moulds nicely around the leading edge and radius > on top. Lay the fibreglass fabric side down on the screen than peel off > the other layer off the other layer of plastic.Cut a piece of peel ply cloth > and lay over the fibreglass. squeegee this to lay down and conform with the > screen. pull the peel ply tight end to end . lightly squeegee this .
