Dan,
I would start at one full turn. I can not remember exactly where it was set
when I had that carb. Your engine should start if you crack the throttle 1/4
open. I actually set my idle with the engine running but I am a little crazy
and it does not bother me to get behind a running prop at idle. So, once you
start the engine and you reduce the throttle to idle and it dies, then
richen the mixture, restart and try again. If it runs too rough and surges
at idle lean it out. It may take several reiterations to get it right unless
you are crazy like me and will get behind that running prop.
