Good morning Netheads, I was up at 4:30 this morning, checked my e-mails, then headed to the airport with the news of our loss of a Canadian KR pilot. I was saddened to hear of this and offer my condolences. Upon arrival at the airport just as light was breaking day, I did my preflight and run up. It was 32° and there was frost on the ground but the winds were calm and the sky was clear. When I taxied out the control tower was not even awake yet so I announced my intentions and departed to the north and flew 20 miles up to Hartford Airport. From Hartford, I turned south to Palmyra Airport some 30 miles away. Then I went to East Troy airport to Burlington airport to WAG AERO airport to Lake Geneva airport and then returned to East Troy airport then headed back to Hartford airport. When I was over Hartford, I looked over towards Lake Michigan and seen a hot air balloon at about 3000' so I headed toward Lake Michigan passing by the balloon on the way. When I reached Lake Michigan, I continued out over the water about a mile and circled some fishing boats then headed back to Waukesha airport. As I was approaching right base for 28 the tower called and warned there was a cyootee sitting about 300 feet down the runway. I thought I was going to have to buzz him to get him off the runway but as I was on final, he decided to move on off the runway so I just sat the KR down and taxied to parking. This was one of the smoothest flights I ever had. My G meter did not move till I touched down and visibility was unlimited. Total duration of flight was exactly 2 hours and I burned 9 gallons of gas. keep building guys cause the rewards are immeasurable.
