I have a Sport Aviation article that says standard baffling has a 55% 
pressure loss while the closed plenum has a 17% loss. That translates 
to smaller inlets which, in turn, translates to less drag. Your choice.

As far as mating the plenum to the plenum goes, try scat tubing. It 
collapses and expands laterally to give a good fit.
