Guys, I got to the airport the other night to a crowd of people and a news helicopter hovering around. Asked what was going on and was told that the army was coming in with a heavy lift helicopter to relocate a old air force jet that had been on static display for as long as I can remember. I decided to watch instead of flying. They brought this thing in and landed at the edge of the parking lot between buildings, trees and wires. Opened the back door and drove a gator out with all their rigging equipment and started to rig the jet to carry. While they were doing that the pilots gave tours to the people on hand of the helicopter. It took about an hour to get ready and they hovered over closer to the jet and set back down, hooked up and ever so slowly and skillfully hovered up and over the jet until it picked straight up with out so much as a swing. They rotated into the wind and climbed up and away for the 20 mile trip to Willow Grove air base to be restored at the museum. I thought that I could get out and maybe get a air to air shoot but they were landing before I could get out of the pattern. It was still one of the coolest things to see. Thanks to Mr. Langford for posting the photo. Happy Friday. http://www.krnet.org/misc/ch47_jet.jpg .
