I think they have been around for at least 20 years.  I ordered one from AS a 
long time ago.  It was the cheap one.  It took forever to be delivered because 
it was back ordered for a long time.  When it arrived, it did not work.  I 
think they are usually very good if you spend the money.  I did not want to 
spend that much money and am using the old air path.

Has anybody got experience (good or bad) with Vertical Card Compasses?

(Fore those who are not familiar with them, these are new type of 
compasses that are proposes as a replacement for traditional oil-filled 
compasses. They are dry, and have a dial that looks like a Direction 
Indicator dial).
