Don You should be able to find Clear Doug Fir at any specilty wood store in your area. 'Clear means not knots any where on the stick. And if there are any, you must cut that area out and scarf the joint at least 12 to 1. I don't know where you live. You may need to go to a large city like Bakersfield, Fresno, Santa Maria or larger. And sometimes even a smaller town like Mojave, Rosemond or Ridgecrest. That is about the best information I know as I did the same on my KR2ss. Just used aircraft plywood for the skin.
