It depends on the make and model.  Many are 2 year battery packs.
I get different answers from everyone I ask on the alkaline batteries.
Some say 1/2 the shelf life marked on the battery, some say the
date on the battery,  yada, yada, yada.  I can't find anything definite
in the regs.  Maybe someone on the net has the "real answer".  If
you know the answer, please post.  NO GUESSES , PLEASE.

As for me, I'm going to change them every year now.
