Think about the orientation of the grain. If the grain is perpendicular to
the corner then it will be weakest and more apt to crack under stress. If it
is horizontal to the corner then you have it the strongest. Are the ones you
have done acceptable? That is your decision only. There is no law saying
they are not and an inspector will not even look at the grain orientation of
a gusset. At least the one who inspected my KR did not.
