Bobby,
I watch for 60 mph indicated and then don't look again until I'm
climbing. I know when I hit the speed bump at my home airport I am right
at 60 to 62 mph and I bounce into the air and never come back down until
I'm ready. As soon as I break the nose wheel off the ground the speed
increases dramatical. The time between 60 and 70 is only seconds (like
3sec.). I have done a couple climbs at 70 mph and can climb at about
1600/min but I don't like being that slow.
I use 90, 80, and then 70 over the numbers. But that 70 over the
fence and sink rate down to just a couple hundred feet per min. is still
elusive for me. yesterday the last landing I was still at 80 and sink
rate was still 500. Not to fear though the ground effect still rounds it
out for the flare just fine.
More information than you asked for but hope it helps.
