Netters,
I have over the past months seen a good many complaints about Rand
Robinson. I would not do anything as far as building an aircraft with
modifications from a set of RR plans until I checked with an attorney but it
seemsto me since there is no patent on the Rand method of building that I
know of, the method can be used by anyone that wants to use it. Even if a
patent was applied for and granted when the method was first thought of by
Ken Rand, The 17 years a patent is good for is now long past.
In view of the above it is my opinion that an aircraft may be built
using KR plans as a guide and if so much as one deviation from the plans is
made, it is not a KR but an original design.
I see nothing wrong or illegal about this and if anyone builds from a
set of plans purchased from someone who bought them from RR and built an
aircraft from them, Mrs Rand brought this on herself by treating customers
and potential customers like she could care less weather they buy plans or
parts from her.
