Serge if you are worried about the slop can't you use a sleve to take up the 
slack perferbly something inert so  no corrosion can start due to dissimbler 
materials.

Maybe a silly question, but wouldn't you be better  off just using an AN-6
(3/8) fastener?  The holes would already be  oversized about .5mm (around
020").
  Then you wouldn't have to drill.

  Just a thought.
