I've taken off over water at Cedar key, and flown out
over the gulf many times....I keep looking out my side
windows and use my wingtips for a reference. It works
for me.

But I will attest to this...flying west out to the
gulf, the horizon WILL disappear in the morning.
Nights are hazardous also.

But....we can only assume this is what happened to
Steve. Control surface failure is also a possibility,
as is medical conditions, ect. We must wait for the
investiagtion results....and in the meantime remember
all he contributed.
