Earlier this summer I flew my Cessna into Venice, Flordia to have Sarasota
Avionics install a new IFR radio stack. Kirk, the installation manager
personally warned me NOT to take off over the water in the morning. It
seems it is very easy to lose track of the horizon and confuse the blue
water with the blue sky. To prove his point we flew over 2 boats salvaging
a sunken Cherokee 3 miles off the runway.
In no way am I giving a definitive reason for this accident, but I am making
the KRnet aware of local airport peculiarities.

I am saddened by such a tragic loss in the KR family. My thoughts and
prayers go out to Steve and his family.
