Pictures? You want PICTURES?

See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/05091302m.jpg and
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/05091305m.jpg . Mine's built like a ladder
using something similar to floor construction. I built a 2"x8" box frame
and then screwed 2"x4" stringers on 16" centers. The thing is supported by
six 4"x4" pressure treated posts, bolted to the frame with 5/16" bolts. The
top is 3/4" OSB (oriented strand board) with a quarter inch "hardboard"
(Masonite) surface screwed to it. Masonite is the dark brown stuff that peg
board is made of. It's very durable and it's replaceable, although I
haven't even thought about replacing it for 12 years now. If I get a bunch
of epoxy on it, I'll just run the belt sander over it and go on with life.
I can still see the layout of my fuselage side structure on it though.

My bench is 16' long, but 14' ought to be fine. After I was done with the
boat, I cut it in half and put half on one wall and left the other half out
in the middle of the floor, but had to add two 4x4 legs to one of them. I
only made mine 42" wide, because 48" is too far to lean and reach the other
side. One of these days I'm going to hang one of them from the basement
floor joists and then I'll call it a "shelf". That'll make room for the
"ultimate Karmann Ghia" project. See
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/ghia2.jpg for a preview...
