I've been off-net for several months but followed the
digest on e-scribe until about a month ago when it
would no longer come up. All I'd get was the "That
page unavailable" page from MS.
Anyway, glad to be back on KRnet and up-dating on the
Gathering.

Because I travel a lot and move house about every four
years, I've used "Yahoo!" free e-mail for nearly ten
years with no problems. They are not my ISP because
a. I want to be able to access the account from any
library or friend's computer.
b. yahoo wasn't available here when I got here anyway.
c. If I get p*ssed at my ISP I can change REAL easy
without having to e-mail everyone and change my e-mail
address.
d. Their new (free again) photo mail makes it real
easy to send embedded pictures.
e. I can have more than one free account, so I can use
one for aviation, one for personal, one for internet
shopping, etc.
I've got several friends and relatives who have free
yahoo accounts and NO computer. A free yahoo account
is how they get to send free e-mails from their local
library. When my computer quits on me, or my
electricity goes out, I go to a public library and use
their computer.
Support your local library!
One of the best features is Yahoo's "Bulk" folder.
Anything that trips their Spam trigger goes into a
Bulk folder. Looking through the crap in my Bulk
folder it is easy to see why. Only on VERY rare
occassions is a legitimate note in the Bulk folder.
Then it's usually one of those that cousin Myrtle
FW,FW,FW,FW to me because it was cute or she isn't
taking her medications again.
On the other hand, ALL my lists, genealogy, aviation,
even advertising I have ASKED for, goes into my
"Inbox" folder. I don't know how they do it, but if I
have to start paying someday, it'll be worth it. My
ISP is a British one (onetel) which I have never used
for e-mail. Don't need to, I've got yahoo.
I don't work for Yahoo or have any connection with
them.
Honest.
