For cabin heat in mine I just had a heat box on the front of the firewall
that was going to go to a muff on the exhaust. There is a good amount of
air in the cowl that I got enough flow without it coming from any kind of
port or air scoop. I never got around to making the exhaust shroud so I was
just taking under cowl air that was flowing around the cylinders and the
engine and it worked fine at 10,000' between Jacksonville and Gulfport in
November. Michigan in January probably would have needed the shroud.

I used two Vista Vents on the KR and I have them on the M1 also. They are
certainly easy to install and they work great. A scat tube from the front
of the cowl to some rotating type vents would certainly give you more air,
but the Vista Vents are a great option to keep them simple.

Subject: KR> Air Supply

Getting ready for the air supplies. The blue circles are where I am thinking
of putting holes for cabin heat and fresh air. I am going to get carb air
from the center of that slit. That slit also provides cooling for the
underside of the engine. I am thinking that I may also be able to steal the
heat and fresh air from either side of that area. What do you think?
