Thanks to those who offered a solution to my OP/OT problem. Jerry came over today and we went back to the beginning and started checking continuity and voltages. We found that we had +12 when checked one way and did not have it when checked another, so decided to follow the wire back to the source, the IGN buss. Then it hit me. I had originally planned to have a separate "IGN" buss just for the fuel pumps that would be hot as long as the master switch was on, and the rest of the IGN buss would be powered when the master and IGN switches were on. Well, as I plundered through my work of wiring up the instrument panel, I forgot about that grand plan and wired the pumps directly to the master switch. So, that part of the buss never got any power. When my grandson connected the +12 from the instruments to the buss, he chose those two points for connection.
I moved them with much difficulty and the instruments appear to want to work But, as I say, the proof is in the ...... However, when we pumped up the brakes, we found a break in one of the brake lines, so the "fun" is not over yet. Happy building. See you in Mt.
