How would that reduce the parts count? What is the function of the anti-crush spacer? I've seen that in an old Newsletter, and Steve Trentman with the turbine built his that way. It looked a lot better, at least, and with proper spacers like you mentioned, would reduce parts count and put the joints in double shear rather than single shear.
