Larry,
Now I have taken the time to read several of the
replies regaurding the cat problems you are having. 
Now many of the ideas that have been made are in jest,
however I would recommend the use of "red chili
pepper."  I know when sprinkled around the garden it
does keep out the rabbits, it might work for the cats
as well.  Worth a shot and it's better than shipping a
live dog accross the country.
