I used 1/8 inch countersunk with 1 inch center-to-center on my cowling. I have about 8 plies of 5 oz glass at the rivet joint to reinforce the joint. You can squeeze the rivets or put the bucking bar on the machine head (the outside) and drive the shop head (the inside) with a small hammer.
