Thanks Colin

This all raises an interesting question about the max angle that the Corvair
can be mounted. Anyone venture a guess? Mine is currently 9 degrees in the tail
down attitude but I imagine the car can climb far steeper hills than that. I
guess an excessively steep angle would:
1.. starve the cam gear of its little oil bath at the front.
2.. increase leakage via the rear seal.
3.. decrease chance of starvation at the pick up since it is at the rear.
4.. cause the rear crank to start foaming.
A deeper pan might reduce the possibility of these things.

but I'm also wondering whether it would impact on the way the lifters operate.
The rear ones being under oil and perhaps unable to bleed down.

I've got a stock pan and had no problems so far but the fuel level (and hence
mixture ratio) in the carb bowl does certainly vary depending on the engine
angle.

My new fuel pump arrived today from Clarks (bloody fast service). Three
reinforced diaphragms looks far more reliable than the original I had.

Catch ya.
