I see the positive side to this story. BOTH of those engines brought you two 
home. Of course, having driven air cooled VWs' for more than thirty years, 
it's exactly what i would expect, ample warning before catastrosphic 
failure. Can you tell us what kind of engines. The broken crank is 
indicative of a type 4???
