I ended up using the 1/2 inch pink to get a surface of exact thickness. A
series of lines scribed parallel with the spars. Then they were gently bent
to airfoil contour as they got a small dab of hot melt to hold them
temporarily in place. The inside contour was perfectly smooth and required
no further work before installation of fiberglass. The scribed lines on the
outer surface got filled with a semi-thick micro and left to dry. Later
sanded the micro even with the surface and what resulted was a thinker
version of Dan Diehl's wing skins except they were the new airfoil and
needed very little sanding at all. One note though epoxy resin only, don't
ask! Works excellent if you have a few false ribs installed so that the
washout is easier to achieve.
