I know how you feel, I've been there and ended
up killing my engine by getting P.O.d and starting
it with quick start.
you probably have two problems, the first is timing
the second is starting proceedure because it'll run
with the POSA.
I'm assuming you have a Slick mag. just trying to
time with the pin is not accurate enough you need
a buzzer or multimeter to dial it in with and the
timing is set to 28 degrees before top dead center
on #1 cylinder.
secondly when you go to start with the POSA it'll
flood so easy, on my engine if I haven't got it started
by second blade pullthrough I have to clear the engine
and start over again.
my proceedure is to turn the fuel on then turn it off
switch my ignition on and pull the prop through it
should catch by second blade using this proceedure
as to your spark if you have one it means your
ignition is working, it really doesn't look like much
igniting a proper fuel air mixture doesn't take much.
fuel to run in an engine is actually a precise formula
blended to ignite in a controlled sequence and not
explode( that's detonation) and the spark just starts
the sequence off.
I'll send you an article I have off line out of an old
kitplanes magazine written by Richard Kunc about
mag timing that will walk you through, it's very easy
aword of warning though if you're hand propping though
make sure you got your timing set up because you
can't get your hand out of the way fast enough if
it kicks back and it hurts just ask me
