We were taught in A&P school not to reuse them, but my personal opinion is
to just use some common sense.  If they still go on real tight they are O.K.
If not, don't use them on your plane.  I use new self locking nuts for
critical things anyway since they are not very expensive and I save the used
ones for less critical assemblies.

Aren't the self-locking nuts a one use item? In other words, isn't the
self
locking feature destroyed after one use?
