I used a SAE "Oscar" template to design the seats for my KR2S.  I also followed 
the Automotive Seating Comfort Criteria by maintaining a minimum of 35 mm "meat 
to metal".
Bottom line is that it is possible to comfortably fit a 95th percentile male 
into a KR.

You will notice that most of the older KR's had the sling seat.  Most everyone 
resorted to boat cushions.  The sling seat is light weight, but you pay the 
price in comfort.
Always a trade-off somewhere!
