Splitting the torsional load over spacers at either end is great

  Instead of a single 2" spacer, consider placing a 1" spacer on the 
  firewall and another 1" spacer at the engine.  I'm not an engineer
  but would guess that a 2" spacer, if secured properly, would not
  be a problem.  To repeat, I'm not an engineer............
