Dear Netters,
I have read where one of the members lost some money because he trusted
someone who said he had a product to sell and when the money was sent
nothing more was heard from the seller and the buyer received nothing. This
is not the first time I have read of this happening but it could be the
last. There is a way to control or prevent this from happening and that is
to establish an excrow account. It could be done in the following manner.
When someone advertises something for sale and another member is
interested in purchasing said item, a third party could receive the payment
in the form of a money order or check and hold it until notified by the
buyer, the item has been received. Any seller who is unwilling to do
business in this manner most likelly can't be trusted. When the buyer sends
the payment to the escrow officer he should also send a stamped, and
addressed to the seller envelope. When the escrow officer recieves word
from the buyer that the item has arrived, the escrow sends the pre-addressed
envelope with the payment in it to the seller. The escrow officer never
handles money, just money orders or checks that are made out to the sellers.
I do not post to the KRNet very often and therefore am not well known.
My wife is in very poor health and cannot be left alone for any long period
of time therefor I have never made it to any of the gatherings except the
one at Canton, Texas a few years back. I would be willing to act as an
escrow officer for the group as described above. I am 76 years old and
retired so have nothing but time and would be willing to serve the KRNet
members in this capicity.
