I have Diehl Gear and mine is 5.25" from the aft side of the spar to the center of the axle. Netters, I'm glassing in my canopy this week. I got the gas struts installed (thanks Mark L for the source) and they work like a charm. Also, I peeled the 20 year old protective film off of the canopy and it came off without any trouble. Boy, having a canopy on the plane that you can see out of really encourages those airplane noises!!!
